(Newswire.net — April 6, 2013) Valencia, CA With the severe educational budget cuts in the last decade, schools both public and private are feeling the effects. They are now forced to investigate other creative means for obtaining fundraising solutions to fill the monetary need especially when it comes to extra-curricular student projects. Santa Clarita Valley International Charter School has partnered with a daily deal site provider, Jan Fowler, to raise money for a South American Outreach Trip planned for early summer. The first outreach program of its kind at SCVi will provide technology centers for underprivileged schools including computers with internet capabilities, projectors, multimedia equipment, printers, power protectors, moisture control systems, and virus security.
Nine student leaders went through a thorough application and acceptance process in order to be admitted into this program. They have been on a fundraising mission to purchase the equipment, airfare, and other necessities for this extensive undertaking. In addition, the money will be spent on transporting the acquired equipment to their target South American destination. They plan to build technology classrooms as well as distribute goods to families in need in the area.
In order to fulfill the substantial monetary obligation involved with this extraordinary task, the SCVi students are executing a number of strategic fundraising ideas. One of the items on that list is partnering with Jan Fowler, a daily deal consultant who works with small to medium sized businesses to create and promote local deals. Participating businesses can offer 35%-90% off on goods or services with one unusual and exciting twist. In an effort to pay it forward and increase exposure for the business, 12% of every deal sold is donated to a local non-profit.
“This Give-Back program creates a win-win-win situation. Local businesses win by making a deal with no up-front costs, the community wins by getting 35%-90% off at a local business, and non-profits win by receiving a 12% donation,” said Jan. “It is such a pleasure to bring this into the community I live in.”
