Fantasy Romance Ebook Compared to Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist

(Newswire.net — June 1, 2013) San Diego, CA — While working at the Mail and Guardian newspaper in Johannesburg (at the time, a sister newspaper to the Guardian in the UK), the idea of using a fantasy romance to teach lessons about life, the abuse of political power, as well as take the reader on a journey through Africa, seemed a worthwhile challenge. She mulled over it for ten long years, and then wrote it while living in San Diego.

So when a reader reviewed her book stating, “Mingling metaphysics with humor, romance, and drama is a difficult feat and she pulled it off. I definitely recommend this book. If I would compare (if you will) this book trumps “The Alchemist” in the profound lessons of human nature that it teaches,” Miss Schlesinger felt that she had accomplished her goal.

It encouraged her to write the sequel, once more a story working on many different levels – a simple fantasy romance for those who love great heroes and fabulous heroines, a challenge for those who like to think about issues like power and its abuse, and something of the mystical and shamanic invisible world that seems so prevalent in Africa. It will be available shortly, once more both in an ebook format and in print.

The story involves a race of magicians who lived 25,000 years ago when things went very much awry. During the death throes of her race, and facing her own demise, the queen of the sorcerers preserved her memories and her powers. Twenty five millennia later, a quirky young lady of the 21st century picks up a small treasure casket while working along a pearlescent beach on the south shores of Africa. She opens it, and in a moment, she has inherited the powers of that ancient magician. So it begins – a journey for redemption, across Europe, through America, and into deepest Africa, a search for a lover, a fight for what is right, and an exploration of the purpose of life.

Memories of a Magician is available at Amazon as a free Kindle ebook until June 4th, 2013. For those readers who do not have eReaders, Amazon provides the required software to be able to read the book in a comfortable format on any tablet or laptop.
