(Newswire.net — July 25, 2013) Brisbane, QLD — WHAT are the criteria for judging true beauty?

You’ve heard of the sayng”“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” If you are standing in front of a mirror, whose eyes are you looking at?  The perception of beauty is widely considered subjective.

Furthermore, the popular notion of just what constitutes beauty has varied a great deal from culture to culture and from era to era.  Some define the shape of the nose, or the eyelids in their perception of beauty.

Eyelid cosmetic surgery is known as blepharoplasty. Such an operation improves the upper and lower eyelids giving them a rejuvenated look. You will look more rested and alert.

Can you spot the differences in the picture?

If your eyelids are puffy. Surgery can remove the fatty deposits.

Surgery can fix loose or sagging skin around the eyelid.

Even wrinkles around the lower eyelid can be removed with surgery.

A blepharoplasty procedure can correct bags under the eyes

Droopiness of the lower eyelids can be corrected

Who are best suited for blepharoplasty?

It is best suited for healthy persons who do not suffer from any serious illnesses or any condition that impairs healing. If you are a smoker you’re not a good candidate. You should have a positive outlook and know what you want in an eyelid operation.

It has been noted that many people, especially young people with a desire to fit in have opted for an eyelid surgery to look more western. In an interview on the SBS program INSIGHT, Dr Andrew Kim and his patient   were interviewed by the hostess of the show. What wasn’t known at the time was that Dr Kim gave an 80% discount to her to publicize his surgery.

Another popular type of cosmetic surgery is:

Nose surgery or rhinoplasty, it is the reshaping of the nose.

A nose surgery is not being done  just by women alone. Many boys and men are also having this procedure done to themselves. The same desire is evident there, the desire to fit in with others.

The above procedures are being sought by a lot of people with Asian ethnicity to enhance their looks to fit in with their ‘western’ peers.

For many girls, the concept of what constitutes a beautiful node or eyelids is influenced by models appearing in magazines or elsewhere.

Advertising exerts a strong influence on what is considered beauty.

Some make a strenuous effort to acquire the desired look.

What are the risks?

Some of the risks and effects were aired in a SBS program aired not too long ago. You can watch the whole program on the sidebar. It is 51 mins long.

The risk of being obsessed with one’s appearance is not just physical. Dr Katherine Phillips of Rhode Island Hospital says that people who are highly concerned about their physical appearance can develop a psychological illness called body dysmorphic disorder (bdd), in which sufferers are obsessed with imagined flaws in their appearance.

Following from bdd another risk is brought out Dr katharine Phillips in the second video on the sidebar.
