(Newswire.net — August 20, 2013) Lake Worth, FL — Through the use of energy efficient technologies, the Public Library in the City of Corsicana has significantly reduced energy consumption and carbon emissions. Specifically, the lighting systems implemented have met and exceeded the requirements of the 2005 Energy Policy Act qualifying the Public Library as an “Energy Efficient Commercial Building.” Through the EPAct Gives Back™ program, the City of Corsicana has been rewarded for their initiatives and stewardship.

Implementation of these energy savings measures demonstrates the City of Corsicana’s strong commitment to energy efficiency and cost avoidance, which benefits the local tax paying community.  The lighting system will save tax payers more than $1,500.00 per year in utility costs. The reduction in energy consumption decreases the Public Library’s carbon emissions by 23,968 lbs. (12 tons) a year. This is equivalent the amount of electricity used by 1.6 Homes and the preservation of 8.9 acres of U.S. forest.

The Public Library project went through an intense engineering analysis and inspection process to meet the requirements of the Energy Policy Act.  This process was administered by Walker Reid Strategies, Inc.  The City’s efforts were recognized with certificates of achievements in Energy Conservation. The City of Corsicana’s commitment to greener governmental buildings is admirable and an example to other institutions in the region.
