(Newswire.net — September 11, 2013) Chattanooga, TNA recent announcement by AMG International Services details the world wide missionary organization’s efforts to fund wells in India during a heat wave that threatened the life of many ill and weak Indians suffering through the intense weather. AMG was made aware of the need for wells by AMG India Director Arun Kumar Mohanty.

Mohanty sent a message to the AMG home offices in the spring of 2013 alerting U.S. based workers of the severity of the summer months in India. According to Mohanty’s letter, the temperature in India stays well above 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the Indian summer and can reach temperature above 116 degrees Fahrenheit. Mohanty wrote that at that time in the spring of 2013, there had already been a day in which 127 died in one day as a result of the unbearable heat and the dangers of dehydration.

According to AMG, Arun Kumar Mohanty petitioned AMG Services International for funds to create ten wells, which would help to alleviate the suffering and danger of the extremely hot weather. Mohany asked for eight thousand dollars to cover the cost of each 800 dollar well. The information relayed by Mohanty indicated that the poor residents of the area would have no other way to easily access clean water without the construction of the new bore-wells.

AMG echoed Arun Kumar Mohanty’s plea to help the impoverished residents of his missionary community to partnership churches. Partner churches in the Chattanooga area responded to the call and committed to meeting the need for $8000 to construct ten wells.

AMG reports that seventy percent of the money was raised within a week. They recently announced on their website that the full amount of needed funds was finally raised and the money was sent to India for the construction of the wells to bring fresh water to those in need who would have no other means of fighting dehydration during the harsh summer.

In the announcement, AMG Services International expressed that from the organization’s perspective, the opportunity to meet physical needs is by an extension an opportunity to help meet spiritual needs. Providing for the physical needs of impoverished, isolated or oppressed peoples is a major part of AMG’s missionary work.
