(Newswire.net — October 7, 2013) Darien, CT —  Darien Chiropractor Brian McKay is used to seeing low back pain cases by the dozen. Lately he has been inundated with runners complaining of a painful condition called Plantar Fasciitis.

Plantar Fasciitis causes pain along the bottom of the foot and is aggravated by standing and running. It can be relieved with rest and ice some of the time. When the athlete goes back to full activity and the returns is where Mc Kay comes in.

You have heard of compunding pharmacies where medications are combined to make treatment more effective. The same rational is used on the patients who have re-occuring plantar fasciitis.

Most people would not equate a chiropractor with treating plantar fasciitis. When a runner can not run they will try anything. This has lead to an almost cult status for McKay , who runs Core Health in Darien.

According to Dr.McKay the treatment goes over several weeks with twice weekly sessions. Patients will see results within 2-3 weeks. They are back  to running in the second ot third week. Being able to run again without pain is crucial to chart progress. As the pain improves the runner can increase the intensity and duration of their run.

McKay feels that by getting the runner back on his feet as soon as possible is helpful in guiding the case as progression is shown. This helps the patient stay focused and ensures results that are very favorable.
