Tempe again figures in Livability.com’s Top 100 places to live in the entire U.S. because of its younger population, affordable apartment rentals, educational institutions, great weather, accessibility and recreation.

Liability.com lists the tops cities in the country by taking into consideration several social, political, environmental, economic and technological factors. Tempe ranks no. 43 in the top cities to live in the U.S. Another Arizona city in the list is Scottsdale, which ranked #89, which borders Tempe to the North.

Here are some of Tempe’s advantages as listed on the site.

Social Advantage

Tempe is home to 160,000+ residents, mostly below their forties. A factor contributing to this is the presence of the largest university in the nation, the Arizona State University, which broke records for the most number of enrolees in 2012 (73,373). The Tempe campus is the largest among ASU’s four campuses and draws enrolees from everywhere in the U.S. and abroad. A growing working age group—mostly unmarried—is also an indicator of Tempe’s status of economy.

Recently, Tempe Mayor Mark Mitchell announced more in-coming jobs on his Twitter account:  “BIG news! Thousands of jobs & the largest office development in AZ history coming to #Tempe! Welcome State Farm!”

This development welcomes more city preparations, such as housing.

Apartments in Tempe

Most residents are staying in affordable housing, especially in apartments near ASU. One such is University Pointe Apartments (located a mere 30 steps from the ASU’s Tempe campus) which is one of the largest in the area.

University Pointe is a favoured choice among students and single workers because of its recreational facilities (a large pool, spacious courtyard and sports room), connectivity (cable TV, Wi-Fi) and affordable prices (starting at $450). It is also near some of the city’s shopping districts, transportation depots, parks and other amenities. University Pointe continues to build more facilities to accommodate a growing populace and recently opened more rooms before the school opening.

Other Advantages

Accessibility, transportation and the climate are also factors in choosing Tempe as a great place to live in. With an airport just 6 miles away from city centre and well planned road network, travellers can get around easily. Median time spent travelling to work is just over 18 minutes, and many people move by foot or with bicycles. The weather is not to worry about. Tempe is mostly dry and sunny, as its annual precipitation is just a third of the national average.
