AMERICAS HOME ENERGY RATING ORG has successfully trained many students that were working towards building a strategic plan to sustain and improve energy efficiency in new and existing homes across the USA.

Paul Kramer, Coordinator, AHERO Training Academy said, “We want to ensure that people get the right education about how energy efficiency is achieved. We want to enable our students to be able to rate the energy levels in new and existing homes. It is a great step for them and since our students are mostly from the construction or real estate industry, this certification is an added accomplishment for them. They can go into business for themselves or hire out to other Energy Efficiency Providers.”

The course involves teaching so students have a understanding of the process and the science behind conducting an energy rating. In addition, during the course students will walk through the house as a system to analyse the components that can increase the energy efficiency, and at the same time build an understanding of the correct method to build energy efficiency into the very fabric of every home. The course focuses on topics such as basic principles of building science, blower door testing procedures, duct leakage testing procedures, construction flaws as well as energy modelling. The students will go through six days of training and testing which is inclusive of field work forms.

The course has been accredited through Residential Energy Services Network and students should qualify by excelling in the HERS certification test.
