(Newswire.net — November 7, 2013) In spite of the most recent debacle of the Lens project that has marked the doomed pier reconstruction in St. Petersburg, there still marks a bright light for those that still cherish and patronize St. Pete’s reputed eating establishments.  Gianni’s NY Pizza is not located in the downtown St. Petersburg vicinity, however a ten minute drive gets its patrons there.

St. Petersburg is well known for being a “foodie” town and claims home to many culinary enthusiasts but pizza in St. Petersburg still holds to the basic premise that New York style pizza will always have a heralded position.  With so many snow birds and New York transplants residing in the Tampa Bay- St. Petersburg locales, there are plenty of critics to decipher the best pizza and Italian food in St. Petersburg.

This eatery perhaps offers a unique distraction from the circus atmosphere that has surrounded the failed $25 million Lens project.    Residents and tourists to St Pete are resilient however and still find their local watering holes and favorite restaurants to dine.  Not necessarily fancy, but comfortable and good to excellent cuisine is what is sought after most.  There is a nice casual nature to many of these types of restaurants.

Gianni’s NY Pizza planted its roots in St. Petersburg from New York City as a family business that has seen generations of culinary experience dedicated towards authenticity.  It’s owner Johnny Colandrea has also been passionate about maintaining its long history reaching from Naples, Italy to the U.S.   His Italian restaurant was his dream to pursue keeping the heritage and foundation of his family and the hard working approach that his father passed down as also a restaurateur and chef but more importantly, as an entrepreneur.  This strength in familial ties has anchored Gianni’s as a fixture in St. Petersburg for its people that still honor St. Pete’s history and long standing culture.

Tampa Bay has enjoyed showcasing St. Pete as a cultural destination with the museums, waterfront, beaches, and development.  The Pier will eventual resurge in another shape and form but rest assured that with places like Gianni’s NY Pizza to hold down the fort, St. Pete will always be a great place to eat.   Visit Gianni’s NY Pizza for this culinary experience.
