(Newswire.net — November 13, 2013)  Scottsdale, AZ Scottsdale. AZ – A car crashed through a block wall and into a Scottsdale home backyard early Saturday night, rudely awakening the homeowner. Fortunately, no one was reported seriously hurt except for the driver, who was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries. There was extensive damage to the wall, though, and some to the house.

Officer David Pubins of the Scottsdale Police Department said the man was driving a Ford Expedition northbound on 131st Way near Via Linda and 136th Street shortly after midnight when he failed to negotiate a right turn and went straight through the wall, fell four to five feet and turned-turtle into the backyard. The homeowners, whose names were withheld, came out and found the driver standing in their backyard, reeling from the accident.

Pubins later told the driver taken into custody for driving under the influence, charged with criminal damages and civil violations.

Over 103,000 motor vehicle accidents in Arizona were reported by the state’s Department of Transportation last year, including 741 deaths. A third of the casualties are associated with car crashes attributed with alcohol or drug impairment. The socio-economic loss due to motor vehicle accidents alone cost the state $2.9 billion in 2012.

“That is why knowing an accident lawyer is imperative not only for drivers and motor vehicle owners but for people in general,” said seasoned personal injury lawyer Michael Nysather of the Scottsdale Accident Law firm. “With a motor vehicle accident rate of one in every 10 minutes, even property owners never know when they would need legal help. It can make or break a personal injury claim.”

Nysather discusses the implications of injury claims due to a DUI related accident in his website, www.AZAccident.com, and provides a no-upfront fee consultation for people who need assistance regarding their personal injury claims.
