Scott Tucker recently left Cornell University after seventeen years of service to the choral programs to take on a new role as director of the Choral Arts Society of Washington. Robert Isaacs succeeds Tucker as the director of choral activities at Cornell University. Previous positions held by Isaacs include interim director of the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and participation in choral programs at Princeton University and the Manhattan School of Music.
The Cornell University Glee Club recently published information about the University’s newest choral director. Isaacs studied choral music at Harvard University and graduated with honors. He also studied creative writing at Columbia University where he earned a Masters of Fine Arts.
Robert Isaacs will continue the legacy of excellence left by former choral director Scott Tucker. Isaacs’s skills in sight singing and musicianship are expected to greatly benefit Cornell musicians. In addition, Robert Isaacs will use his experience conducting research into choral rehearsal psychology as a Trustman Fellow.
The newest Cornell Choral Director has a wealth of experience as a director and as a performer. From his humble beginning performing as a street musician in San Francisco, Isaacs has gone on to perform at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Guggenheim Museum, and Carnegie Hall. He regularly tours and records with ensembles including the Pomerium, the Vox Voice Ensemble and the Clarion Music Society. His work as a performer lead Grammy Award nomination in 2006.
