(Newswire.net — December 16, 2013) Boise, ID —
This week the Meridian Joint School District No. 2 of Meridian, Idaho, officially launched a mobile application for its students, parents, teachers, administrators and the community. A first for the State of Idaho, the smart phone mobile app for the Meridian School District was developed to allow push notifications to the students and the community for real-time updates. Push notifications are a useful way of getting up to date information on-the-fly. Emergency alerts, snow days, late starts, and calendar changes are just a few of the possible uses of the push notification feature. Other features of mobile apps for school districts include events calendar, lunch menus, school listings and maps, school district news, links to student grades and assignments, boundaries and bus stops, contact information, community news feed, photo gallery, directories, social media links and more.
The popularity of mobile apps for school districts is increasing across the nation due to the benefits mobile apps offer the entire community. With a different approach from most mobile app developers, in staying with its core mission, Mobile4Schools.com, an innovator in providing mobile apps for school districts, donated the application to the Meridian School District in an effort to raise funds for underprivileged students throughout the district. Each year, school districts struggle to provide assistance to economically disadvantaged students. With funds in education dwindling and student needs swelling, Rita Delaney, founder of Mobile4Schools.com, recognized the seriousness of the situation and decided to do something about it. From this she created a mobile app/mobile marketing system from her education, knowledge and expertise in today’s digital and mobile technology that will raise funds for needy students and maintain those funds throughout the year.
Local businesses in the school district are invited to become Mobile Partners in Education and make a tax deductible contribution to the school district. During the semester, the businesses, as Mobile Partners in Education, will benefit from weekly marketing services to district patrons and a portion of the nominal marketing fees will be returned to the school district to maintain the fund. She hopes to make a positive difference in the lives of children who need help and to build communities of school patrons and businesses around school events. She says, “It’s a simple concept, ‘When Everyone Gives, Everyone Wins!'”
“I am thrilled to be making a difference in the lives of children needing help and providing a means of interactive communication in the Meridian community,” said Ms. Delaney. “The Meridian School District is taking a bold and positive step forward in utilizing the latest in mobile technology to reach the patrons of the district. In turn, the patrons can help spread the message of the district’s needs and support the Mobile Partners in Education who are supporting the kids. There have been nearly 3500 downloads in the first 4 days following the launch so I am encouraged about the future. My goal was to create a system where everyone wins and I am so pleased that Mobile4Schools.com accomplishes that goal. “
Everyone is encouraged to download the Meridian School District mobile app on their smartphones. Search for ‘Meridian School District’ in the Apple and Android stores.
