(Newswire.net — January 14, 2014) PALOS VERDES PENINSULA, CA — Parents from the Palos Verdes Peninsula, Lomita, Redondo Beach, Torrance and San Pedro now have the opportunity to offertheir children the gift of bilingualism. Montessori School’s Palos Verdes campus is now accepting enrollments for its new Spanish immersion program. The program is open to toddlers (ages 18 months to 36 months, in a bilingual Spanish/English classroom) and preschooler/kindergarteners (ages 3-6, in a full immersion Spanish classroom).

LePort has been offering Spanish immersion for the past two years at its campus in northern Huntington Beach, where parents have enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to have their children acquire Spanish effortlessly, during their toddler and preschool years. “The LePort Spanish immersion program has been an amazing experience for our family,” says Audrey Kelly, a parent of a preschooler in the Spanish immersion program at the Huntington Harbor campus. “I hesitated because I didn’t want to ‘confuse’ my daughter with a new language. I learned that at age three, she is not learning Spanish instead of another subject; she is soaking it all in with every lesson. My daughter’s teachers are kind and caring, and really know and understand my child. I know they care deeply about each student’s education, but also, and just as importantly, about their happiness.”

The Spanish immersion program is integrated into a Montessori preschool environment that is ideally suited to foster bilingualism. “Our goal is to enable children from English-speaking or mixed-language households to become capable speakers of Spanish, and to equip them with literacy skills in both English and Spanish during their preschool years”, explains Lisa Spring, the Head of School at the Palos Verdes campus. “Since we opened our school four months ago, many parents who come to tour the school havebeen asking about a Spanish program option. I am so excited that we’ll now be able to offer families this option.”

The Spanish-English bilingual toddler classroom opens in February, and parents can enroll their children to start right away. The preschool classroom opens in September, and parents can enroll now in the English-language program and transfer to the Spanish program in fall, or enroll now for a September start.
