Angelo’s Recycled Materials, who operate their business in St. Petersburg, Tampa, Lakeland, and Clearwater have incorporated LEED Certification in working with their clients that are interested in removing debris and waste while also preserving their piece of the Earth.

LEED Certification (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) is a set of rating systems that is geared for construction, design, operation, and maintenance of “green” homes, buildings, and neighborhoods.  LEED was developed by the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council) that was established to aid building owners to be more responsible and environmentally conscious while using resources with this frame of mind.  Its membership organizations constitute over 20,000 over 30 different countries that have applied to over 7,000 projects.

There are only four states in the U.S. that do not honor LEED Certification as a result of timber manufacturer lobbyists and chemical company giants that cater to the building products trade.  The USGBC offer accreditations with a rating system for those that take the time to understand and incorporate LEED principles into their business practices.

From 1998 to 2005 where the LEED pilot version was launched, 2009 experienced introducing LEED Online that offered a new third party certification program.  Here there are six credit categories with 100 base points that can be accumulated.  Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation in Design.

What are the true benefits for a LEED Certification status?  Although the details involved are extensive and arduous, there are benefits that bear fruit along the way throughout the life of a building, property, or facility that has gone through the trouble of earning this.  Local governments that have adopted LEED incentive programs incentivize these locations with tax credits, tax breaks, density bonuses, reduced fees, priority or expedited permitting, grants and low interest loans, and free or reduced cost technical assistance.

The dumpster or trash removal business has become an important component to this industry since green disposal has become an important part of living and sustainability in our new world.  Our waste management and disposal companies bear the brunt of the most responsibility with regards to trash removal and dumping since land fill and garbage disposal is a hot button for environmentalists and citizens seeking to live a greener world in the face of global warming.
