Never Be Bored, an entertainment website featuring local community members, will collaborate with local poet and author Scott Tucker. The collaboration will feature workshops, performances, and poetry and short fiction readings.
“This project is something we are not only behind from a business perspective, but also out of personal interest: most of us in the office will be attending,” says Jill Wilcox of Never Be Bored. ” We are all writers here, so when Scott Tucker came to us to organize a monthly poetry night we were halfway done with the planning before the second phone call.”
The poetry night will be held at Bellview High School on the first Saturday of every month. The event is open to the public with pre-registration recommended for anyone wishing to perform. There will be a different theme set each month, and each event will focus on topics such as performance and delivery, literary devices, and open reading.
“This is the first time I’ve actually been involved in any kind of teaching capacity and I really have to thank Jill and her team over at Never Be Bored for helping make this project a reality,” says Scott Tucker. “I’ve followed the site for a long time now, and when I thought about poetry classes, I knew they’d be able to help spread the word.”
Each class will culminate in a slam poetry session. Performances will be taped, so guests who are reading or performing will need to sign a release form.
