(Newswire.net — October 29, 2014) London, LONDON — New research from the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) showed that 630,000 people found permanent employment by using a recruitment agency and 1.15m people secured contract or temporary work with the help of employment agencies.

Kevin Green, head of the REC, said: “The recruitment industry is the driving force behind the UK’s labour market recovery. The impact that recruiters have on both people’s lives and our nation’s businesses is one of the reasons why we have record employment, and unemployment falling at unprecedented speed.”

With over 91% of all of the recruitment industry revenue coming from temporary and recruitment it’s far to say this is the main factor in the UK’s labor recovery.

Greg Dickson from Hamilton Bradbury Umbrella Company said: “ Over the past 12 months we’ve seen a spring back in the step of the recruitment industry. The IT contractor market has seen incredible growth and not just the traditional IT roles. There is a lot happening in emerging technologies”

While IT and computing only makes up 9.9% of the total contract and temporary job in the UK it’s value is the highest. In a recent study in to IT salaries it showed that some of the fastest growing skills are Sharepoint 2013, Scala and NoSQL. These skills are in demand and the day rates are clearly showing this.

The REC is saying that this is not a once off , in fact they are forecasting a 9% increase for the industry in 2015/16 and then 8.7% for the following year.
