Third Annual Indie Ogden Awards Coming to Ogden Utah

(Newswire.net — November 11, 2014)  — Indie Ogden announces the third annual Indie Ogden Awards to recognize locally owned businesses in Ogden, Utah. The award ceremony takes place December 18, 2014 at Hub 801. Voting has open and continues until December 8th.


“The Indie Ogden Awards is our way of saying thank you! to Ogden,” said Mikaela Platter, founder of Indie Ogden. There are so many amazing businesses, people and events in Ogden that deserve to be recognized for their hard work and contributions to the community. We want to showcase all there is to love about Ogden, and show the entire state just how awesome Ogden really is.”


Last year there were over 300 people in attendance and counting vendors, almost 400. “We sold out the first and second year before the event started. Most of our sales were at the door. Unfortunately, we had to turn people away (so be sure to get your tickets in advance). It’s exciting to see the line out the door and around the corner! It will be even bigger this year,” said Platter.

In addition to the awards, the event will include entertainment from Nurture the Creative Mind and food from local restaurants. There will be local food vendors from many local businesses to showcase the delicious local foods that Ogden has to offer. At the awards ceremony winners will be announced and come onto stage to get receive their plaques. The Ogden community nominated businesses in various categories and voted, started in September.


At the Awards ceremony, Indie Ogden will honor five groups that have had significant strides this year in improving Ogden. These people and businesses have been key to creating jobs and getting the spotlight on Ogden. While those honored are not necessarily local, they have had huge impacts on the city of Ogden.

Merco Local is designing this years gift boxes for guests filled with local Ogden merchants. Nurture the Creative Mind is the benefactor and the students will be working together to create the decor and provide entertainment. Students will perform dance and music that they have created as well as display art for auction throughout the venue.


The event will be live broadcast at the Hub 801 site. Hub 801 is a new addition to Ogden and is located in a restored Coca Cola factory and the venue features state of the art audio/visual equipment with vintage industrial decor from the old factory.  


Richie T. Steadman of Radio From Hell will host the evening along with Mikaela, founder of Indie Ogden. The afterparty will be held at Alleged on 25th street.
