(Newswire.net — November 14, 2014) Thomson, Illinois — There likely aren’t many attorneys in America who “moonlight” in the area of children’s audio theater, but Nick Heid is among them.

Heid is an assistant producer on the new audio movie In Freedom’s Cause, a drama about William Wallace which continues to garner nationwide attention and draw comparisons to Adventures In Odyssey for its production quality.

Heid’s alma mater, New Saint Andrews, spotlighted his work in the audio drama Nov. 7 in a newsletter to friends and alumni. Heid also worked on the audio drama Under Drake’s Flag last year. Both were released by Heirloom Audio Productions.

During the day, Heid works as an associate at Holesinger Law Offices in Fulton, Ill., focusing on estate planning and corporate law. His side job is much different. Heid’s father, Bill Heid, founded Heirloom Audio Productions.

“Our goal is, through the medium of audio dramas, to encourage families to learn about these great Christian heroes who we have either forgotten or possibly never even heard of,” Heid, who graduated from the Moscow, Idaho, school in 2007, told the On The Square newsletter. “We try to show men like Francis Drake and William Wallace for who they really were — devout and stalwart Christians who were completely assured of God’s providence in their lives.

“This allowed them to charge into battle and sail across oceans at incredible odds with no fear – knowing that God was in control of their lives. We hope that by producing these dramas, we can inject a strong dose of courage and character into the listeners in order to equip them for the battles that they will face in their lives.”

In Freedom’s Cause features Joanne Froggatt (Anna Bates of Downton Abbey), Billy Boyd (Pippin of The Lord Of The Rings), Skandar Keynes (Edmund of The Chronicles of Narnia series) and James Cosmo (Campbell, Father Christmas of Braveheart and The Chronicles of Narnia, respectively), as well as a score by composer John Campbell (Lamplighter Theatre, Focus on the Family Radio Theatre, Adventures in Odyssey). It is narrated by Brian Blessed (Return to Treasure IslandWar and RemembranceRobin Hood: Prince of Thieves).

Each 2-CD set is accompanied by a study guide and discussion starter, and each story emphasizes faith and moral values. Executive producer Bill Heid said history has been sanitized of both elements.

“What we’re trying to do is put faith back into history,” said Bill Heid, executive producer of both projects. “Everything in our world is sort of sterilized and secularized, and the faith of the men has been taken out of textbooks in America and around the world. These projects are all about putting Christ back into history.”
