#GIVINGTUESDAY Benefits WWII Veteran, Repays What Was Stolen

(Newswire.net — November 30, 2014) Denver, CO — A WWII veteran’s historical story will be preserved in The French American narrative feature film.  Darla Rae of Film It Production first learned of WWII veteran John Tschirhart following the 70th anniversary of D-day, when Tschirhart was decorated with the Legion of Honor medal. The award is France’s highest distinction for Americans who fought to liberate France. John has carried his historical story for 70 years. Unscrupulous filmmakers took the WWII veteran’s money on the pretext of telling the story, but never did.

Film It Productions has joined the national #GivingTuesday movement to encourage spending with a purpose on Tuesday December 2, 2014.  Pledges will help preserve a piece of WWII history, and celebrate Major John Tschirhart’s 95th birthday by bringing his story to the big screen. The project honors WWII veterans, and teaches younger generations about this country’s Greatest Generation.

Unscrupulous filmmakers took the WWII veteran’s money on the pretext of telling the story, but never did. Rae has already raised private funds which allowed her to film limited scenes for the film, including the closing scene on the USS Texas battleship. The USS Texas is the last remaining ship that served both in WWI and WWII.

I believe an injustice has occurred, and we need to make it right. Not only does the film project pay tribute to Tschirhart who flew 35 combat missions as a bombardier, but it also gives honor to thousands who served so heroically in WWII. It’s about preserving a piece of history which will soon fade away. Out of the 16,000,000 who served in WWII, less than 1,000,000 are still living. The statistics show we are losing them, and their stories, at a rate of 900 per day. Within three to four years, they and our history will all be gone.”

Film It Productions and The French American joined #GivingTuesday, as a first of its kind effort that will harness the collective power of a unique blend of partners—charities, families, businesses and individuals—to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. Coinciding with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday will inspire people to take collaborative action to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter, and unique ways to the charities and causes they support and help create a better world.

Taking place December 2, 2014, this coming Tuesday, #GivingTuesday will harness the power of social media to create a national moment around the holidays dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping.   Pledges to https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-french-american will help preserve a piece of WWII history.

#TheFrenchAmerican believes this is the opportunity to channel the generous spirit of the holiday season to inspire action around charitable giving in a different capacity. A group of filmmakers, actors, and veterans have come together to promote and celebrate the American tradition of giving; just like those veterans and families did during WWII. More than 10,000 organizations have joined the movement and are providing creative ways people can embrace #GivingTuesday and collaborate in their giving efforts to create more meaningful results.
