(Newswire.net — December 17, 2014)  — Local restaurant owner, Scott Tucker, has made an announcement to incorporate a braille menu at Riverside Restaurant in Baton Rouge. Due to the large population of visually impaired residents in the community, Tucker has stated that the decision to launch his idea was easy to make.

“My greatest culinary teacher was my grandmother, who had lost her vision when I was young,” Scott Tucker said. “When I moved to Baton Rouge, I knew right away that I wanted to create a braille menu. My passion is food, and I love expressing myself through cooking and sharing my ideas with as many people as possible. I believe that incorporating a braille menu at Riverside Restaurant will encourage more people to dine with us, and will make a large impact on the community here.”

The restaurant is currently in the process of working with a braille expert, whose task will be to translate the menu accordingly. The local blind association will be notified as soon as it’s been finalized, and the Tucker’s restaurant will be added to a list of establishments that have incorporated the use of braille.

“Scott Tucker is doing big things with the recent development to include a braille menu at his restaurant,” said translator, Josh Freeman. “I believe businesses that do good for the community always end up succeeding. Trust me, this is a huge breakthrough for the local community.”

Tucker’s fusion of Creole and traditional American food has made Riverside Restaurant a popular choice among the locals. Once finished, Scott Tucker anticipates the new menu to enhance the dining experience of visually impaired guests and make a statement among fellow restaurateurs.
