(Newswire.net — January 14, 2015) Singapore, Singapore — On January 13, Singapore American School (SAS) hosted leaders from the Consortium for School Networking, or CoSN, the premier professional association for education technology leaders. The delegation, which features nationally recognized leaders in education reform, global education technology leaders, education law and policy experts, and educational researchers, visited a number of schools and government officials in Singapore.

CoSN is committed to a global dialogue focused on the strategic uses of technology for the improvement of teaching and learning in elementary and secondary schools, and disseminates their findings and experiences to educational leaders and policymakers in the US. CoSN represents over 10 million students in school districts nationwide and continues to grow as a powerful and influential voice in K-12 education.

Previous senior level delegations have visited Australia, Scandinavia, Scotland, the Netherlands, London, Paris, South America, and Portugal.

In Singapore, the delegation has focused on learning how strategic investments in ICT are preparing students in Singapore for success in the 21st century global economy, exploring innovative uses of technology, and identifying innovative policies and practices in Singapore that have implications for US education.

CoSN CEO Keith Krueger said, “American education leaders can learn much from looking at well thought out and innovative examples of reimagining learning from around the world.  A highlight of our visit to Singapore has been our visit to the Singapore American School.  Under Superintendent Kimball’s leadership, the school is rethinking how they are preparing their students for today and tomorrow, and using technology as a catalyst for that transformation.”

Singapore American School Superintendent Dr. Chip Kimball spoke with the delegation at the beginning of their trip about his perspective on educational transformation in the US, Singapore, and the international school realm. At the SAS campus, the delegation toured the school’s world-class facilities and met with the leadership team about Singapore American School’s pioneering work in educational technology and in rethinking education to best prepare students for a rapidly changing future.

Dr. Kimball said, “We are fortunate to be in a school and in a country where what is possible in education is unlimited. At Singapore American School, cultivating exceptional thinkers is deeply important to us; we believe that is probably the single thing that we do which will transcend time and change, economies and culture. We continue to embed innovation into everything we do to ensure that our program helps students develop the skills they need to succeed in whatever their futures bring.”
