(Newswire.net — January 27, 2015) Thomson, Illinois — Children are being “inundated” with history books full of inaccuracies and political correctness, and families must be intentional in providing their children the full story.

So says K-TALK radio host Tim Aalders in endorsing a new family audio theater CD, In Freedom’s Cause, which recounts the true story of 14th century Scottish hero William Wallace.

“Stories like this are important for children and for our youth and for adults,” said Aalders, who hosts a show on the station, which is broadcast out of South Jordan, Utah, just south of Salt Lake City. He was interviewing the project’s executive producer, Bill Heid. “I don’t normally endorse things. I get probably 50-100 books a month, and this product is one I’d actually put my stamp on.”

In Freedom’s Cause follows a boy, Ned, as he tags along with Wallace and watches history unfold and Scotland gain its independence from England. The two-CD set is the second project from Heirloom Audio Productions, which released Under Drake’s Flag in 2013. That earlier project told the story of Sir Francis Drake (c 1540 to 1596), the first Englishman to circle the globe. They’re based on G.A. Henty books.

The CDs tell the Christian story of Wallace and Drake that often is missing from history books. Braveheart was loosely based on Wallace’s story.

“I am passionate about history and learning from the mistakes of history, and learning that people can stand up and unite for good causes, good reasons,” Aalders said. “Stories like this give you hope. And it will give your kids hope and your grandkids hope. This is a great story with a fantastic cast.”

In Freedom’s Cause stars Skandar Keynes (Edmund of The Chronicles of Narnia series), Billy Boyd (Pippin of The Lord Of The Rings), James Cosmo (Campbell, Father Christmas of Braveheart and The Chronicles of Narnia, respectively), Joanne Froggatt (Anna Bates of Downton Abbey) and Brian Blessed (Boss Nass and Clayton in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and Tarzan, respectively).

Heirloom Audio’s projects have received high marks from homeschooling expert and curriculum reviewer Cathy Duffy.

“While other publishers have created outstanding audio recordings, both abridged and unabridged, the new presentations from Heirloom Audio are really something special,” Duffy wrote. “The script writers, the sound engineer, the actors, the creator of the musical score, and others involved in making these productions have been involved in major, critically-acclaimed productions, and their expertise shows! These are really top-notch, audio theater experiences as well as an entertaining way to learn some history.”

Under Drake’s Flag was named Favorite Audio Drama of 2014 by SchoolhouseReviewCrew.com, a major homeschooling website comprised of 200 families who review products. For more information, visit UnderDrakesFlag.com.
