(Newswire.net — February 19, 2015) Bryan, TEXAS — Garrett Mechanical, Inc., an award-winning mechanical contractor that’s worked across industries, has announced its involvement in the renovation of Methodist Texsan Hospital. The project included the renovation of the 3rd floor nurse’s station and patient rooms. It provided valuable upgrades to infrastructure to aid in the improvement of this important health care facility in San Antonio.

Formerly known as Texsan Heart Hospital which opened in 2004, the facility had been struggling in recent years. It was acquired by the MedCath Corporation in 2010 for about $78.5 million. The new purchase was intended to incorporate the hospital into the national healthcare chain, expand the facility’s services, and contribute to healthcare reform. Struggles were resulting from a high Medicare business volume and partial physician ownership which is now under tighter control as a result of Congressional legislation introduced in 2010.

Methodist Healthcare purchased the hospital on January 1, 2011. With this acquisition, it was renamed Methodist Texsan Hospital. Recent renovations are helping to expand the ability of the hospital to provide even more excellent cardiac care. It is known for treating cardiovascular emergencies and has implemented advanced treatment protocols for heart-related symptoms.

The hospital has advanced operating room suites and also five heart catheterization labs. Its emergency department is equipped and staffed to quickly handle heart and vascular emergencies 24/7 in which seconds count. It is also designed to handle a range of other emergency situations.

Larry Garrett, Vice President of GMI, said, “It was important to us to be a part of the Methodist Texsan Hospital renovation. The function of every component of its infrastructure directly impacts the health of the community. This facility’s emergency services and excellent care are respectable and, thanks to us, the hospital can be even more on the forefront of innovative care.”
