(Newswire.net — March 13, 2015) Cambridge, MA — Winters Home Services, an award-winning provider of plumbing, heating, cooling, and air quality services to residents throughout the greater Boston area, outlines heating and cooling home improvement rebates available in 2015.

“There are a number of efficiency programs and rebates available to homeowners that help to reduce energy consumption and energy bills,” explained Tim Flynn, owner of Winters Home Services. “When considering upgrading your home’s heating or cooling system, be sure to look into special financing options and rebate programs available, which could save you hundreds to thousands of dollars.”

Taking Stock

It’s time for homeowners to assess their systems and consider upgrading them. If a heating system is more than 15 years old, it’s time to replace it with a new, energy efficient system, which will perform better, and save money on energy bills. If your hot water system is 10 or more years old, consider replacing it. Signs that your hot water heater needs to be replaced: hot water that doesn’t last long or fails to maintain a consistent temperature; leaking under the tank; corrosion or rust on the tank; and strange noises coming from it.

Upgrading? Take Advantage of Rebates

Homeowners can save on new energy efficient heating equipment. Winters works with a number of programs such as GasNetworks, which offers rebates up to $1600 for qualifying heating equipment.

Mass Save offers homeowners “Cool Smart” rebates of up to $500 on ENERGY STAR qualified central air conditioning systems as well as Air-Source Heat Pump systems.

Also through Mass Save, homeowners can get zero percent financing for 2015 with the Mass Save HEAT Loan program http://www.masssave.com/residential/offers/heat-loan-program.

“Many of our customers who made energy efficient home improvements such as installing high efficiency heating and domestic hot water systems or central air conditioning in 2014 went through the Mass Save program for financing,” noted Flynn.

Home Improvement Tax Credits & Rebates

For homeowners who purchased and installed new high efficiency heating and/or high efficiency hot water systems in 2014, don’t forget to submit your rebate. Also, be sure to check with your tax preparer to determine if your energy efficient home improvement qualifies for a tax credit.
