(Newswire.net — March 22, 2015)  — Christopher Nowak told CNN he and his wife used a down payment for their house to buy a famous Disney monorail car last year, dreaming that they might use it one day to drive their kids to school. Now, the family is selling the car on eBay.

“Some people have train cars in their back yard, imagine your own monorail guest room, or man cave. Mount it on a bus chassis and drive it around!! Turn it into your kids’ ultimate clubhouse,” Nowak posted as a description on the eBay page adding “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a very serious piece of Disney history.”

According to Nowak family, the Disney’s monorail car, one of those that transported millions of visitors to Walt Disney World in the 1970s and 1980s, had much more value than a home they wanted to buy at the time. Nowak and his wife told the news agency they “honeymooned in Disney World” and once visited all the Disney parks in the world except Euro Disney in Paris, “within a month.”

Nowak sees himself as an artist, inventor and collector of “weird old vehicles.” He said his collection includes a ‘party bus’, which the couple has transformed it into a mobile nightclub.

According to CNN, Nowak listed the item last week on eBay for $260,000 with a starting bid of $169,000. As of Saturday night, more than 3,000 people are watching the item, however, no one yet placed the offer.

The reason for poor response so far may be the fact that Nowak didn’t receive any original certificate from the Disney Company proving that monorail is authentic. However, he is no worried it might be a replica.

“I guess there’s chance it could be a reproduction but I’m not too worried,” Nowak told CNN. “If this thing gets sold I know that in 20 years I’ll look back and think that of all the things I got rid of, this is the coolest.”

The original Mark IV monorail trains were retired in 1989 after new larger cabins were introduced, according to the Orlando Sentinel, CNN reported.
