Old Colony Elder Services Presents Diabetes Workshops on June 9th and 12th

(Newswire.net — June 1, 2015) Brockton, MA —Old Colony Elder Services (OCES), the Brockton based regional agency serving older adults and individuals with disabilities throughout Plymouth County and the greater Brockton area, is presenting two educational events during “Brockton Knocks Down Diabetes” week.

On Tuesday, June 9, 2015 from 5 to 6 pm, OCES in partnership with Brockton Neighborhood Health Center will hold  “Controlling Your Blood Sugar: Your Food Choices Count!” workshop at Brockton Neighborhood Health Center, 63 Main Street. Donna-Marie Forand, Outreach & Education Specialist at OCES, and Barbara Nalen-Cardosa, RDN/LDN Nutritionist at OCES, will lead the workshop. This educational event is free and open to the public. On Friday, June 12, 2015 from 10 to 11:30 am, OCES in partnership with Brockton Council on Aging will present “Meal Planning for Diabetes” workshop at Training Resources of America, 231 Main Street #302 in Brockton. Topics to be covered include what and how much to eat. Donna-Marie Forand, Outreach & Education Specialist at OCES, and Dottie Slack, Health Education/Outreach Coordinator at Brockton COA, will lead this workshop. This educational event is free and open to the public.

OCES employees will participate in the Diabetes FUN Walk/Run, being held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 9:30 am at D.W. Field Park. OCES encourages community members to join them in the walk on June 13th and at other free events being held June 6th through the June 13th.
