(Newswire.net — June 6, 2015) — For those parents who do not yet realize the power social networks have on their kids, this may serve as a lesson. Jezebel Laxamana, a 13-year-old girl from Washington State, committed suicide by jumping off of an overpass in Tacoma on Interstate 5 on Friday, May 29.

The suicide jump was made days after her father posted a YouTube video showing him cut her hair as the punishment for an undisclosed misdeed. Now, according to a blog devoted to Jezebel and all bullied victims like her, a Facebook page called Justice for Jezebel is filled with calls for her father to be criminally prosecuted or else publicly shamed himself.

The video posted on YouTube showed Jezebel with her hair cut of and allegedly her father’s voice while he was filming.

“The consequences of getting messed up, man, you lost all that beautiful hair,” mail voice says from behind the camera, which in that point was turned to show a pile of cut black hair on the ground.

“Was it worth it?” he asks. “No,” Jezibel says. The voice then asked “How many times did I warn you?” while she replied “A lot.”

Reportedly, the original 15-second video has been removed from YouTube, however, a friend of Jezebel’s, posted a copy that still remains.

The video serves as a reminder that there is a better way to try to resolve problems with teenagers in emotional pain. It is also a warning to parents to restrain from “engaging in shame videos,” YouTube user Lift Up wrote.

Allegedly, Jezebel was bullied at school over the course of the the last year, a Google Plus post revealed.

“I feel hated most of the time im in school i feel looked down on and I get judged alot…. But what keeps me going is people like kian who have gone through the same thing as me… In a school with so many people its weird to say “I feel alone” but the truth is that you really do feel alone. So thanks for everything kian…,” the post read.

The impetus for Jezebel’s suicide is still unknown. A memorial video for Jezebel was posted on YouTube.
