(Newswire.net — July 3, 2015) Kingston 10, Kingston 10 — This vision is to affect young people in a positive way by helping them to realize their academic and personal dreams and goals. With this objective in mind, the Gore’s created the UWI Scholarship that provides much needed assistance to students seeking to further their knowledge with tertiary education.

Phillip and Christine Gore value young people who manage to succeed academically despite constricting factors in their lives and environments. They are also proud of athletic students who excel in the sporting arena. They especially have a deep love for the sport of tennis.

The scholarships are awarded to students that have achieved a good level of academic performance, demonstrate a stated financial need and who have credible talent in some sport including tennis. In the last two years, nine students have met this criteria and have been assisted in their tertiary education to the University of the West Indies (UWI). These awardees study a variety of disciplines including medicine, business and economics.

Recently, five of the nine scholarship recipients paid a courtesy visit to Phillip and Christine Gore and members of their executive management team. On Thursday, June 4, 2015, the scholarship awardees expressed their appreciation for the $6.4 Million in total scholarships doled out in the last two years for their educational purposes. The recipients commented on their appreciation for the scholarships and mentioned the positive impact that Gore Developments Limited has had on their lives so far.

The five students were received graciously in the corporate offices of Gore Developments Limited and were greeted by Phillip and Christine Gore personally. The scholarship recipients present included; Rushaine Goulbourne, Shelley-Ann Wilson, Antoinette Harris, Oswald Robinson, and Theophilus Nelson.
