Boris Kodjoe Joins My Brother’s Keeper Sports Box Dialogue Panel

(Newswire.net — August 31, 2015) Phoenix, AZ — The Checkered Flag Run Foundation is pleased to announce that in addition of actor and former number one tennis player, Boris Kodjoe to their esteemed panel of local sports legends and executives at the My Brother’s Keeper: Sports Box Dialogue event at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Phoenix, AZ on September 12, 2015. 

Kodjoe, a former number one tennis junior player, attended the same tennis academy in Germany as Boris Becker and Steffi Graf. Later Kodjoe attended Virginia Commonwealth University on a tennis scholarship and still plays the game with 21-time Grand Slam singles Champ Serena Williams.

Kodjoe joins a long list of Phoenix area sports legends and sports executives that will share their personal stories as well as inspire over than 500 middle school and high school students about the many opportunities available to them that are beyond the court, track or field.

This event is presented by Checkered Flag Run Foundation (CFRF) and in association with the Black Chamber of Arizona, Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Arizona Informant. The event is part of the Foundation’s efforts that supports youth in overcoming obstacles on the road to success by reaching their full potential.

The Phoenix My Brothers Keeper: Sports Box Dialogue is one of several different area activities happening as a response to President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Community Challenge which was accepted by City of Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton in September of 2014.     

The Honorable Art Hamilton will be moderating the panel of respected sports figures. In addition to Kodjoe. the revered panel includes:

• BONUS Arizona Diamondbacks Outing:  The first 500 youth in attendance with an accompanied adult will receive complimentary tickets, souvenir t-shirts and transportation from Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, to the Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers game that evening at 5:10 p.m. at Chase Field, and back to the Church following the game.
