New Program To Support Sunrise Adoption Families

(Newswire.net — November 8, 2015) North Vancouver, BC — Adoption is a powerful and lifelong experience of love and commitment.  Being able to provide not just a home and love for a child, but to do so in such a way that respects the child’s culture is what Sunrise seeks for all families, whether they have adopted domestically or internationally.  

 

Sunrise encourages families who adopt children from other countries and cultures to maintain the child’s culture, history and language as best they can.  Parents who have adopted children from another country often form adoption family groups to help retain these ties.  These post-adoption groups are frequently an integral part of an Adoption Program set up by Sunrise. 

 

To honour the challenges faced by adopting parents Sunrise has established a Post-Adoption Funding Program to provide financial assistance to post-adoption family groups in order to assist with promoting and supporting their children’s cultural ties with their countries of origin.  This program is only for clients of Sunrise.  This will help to support and maintain the activities of these groups.  This program is in addition to the events which Sunrise currently sponsors, such as the Birth Mothers’ Day Picnic held every year.  Families frequently tell us how much these events mean to them and their children.
