(Newswire.net — April 13, 2016) Houston, Texas — Marwood Construction (www.marwoodconstruction.com), a leading luxury home builder in Houston and specialty general contractor, has recently created a new entity to serve aging seniors who have chosen to remain in their homes during their golden years. The newly formed company is called Aging at Home LLC, and will serve the aging population in the greater Houston market. Aging at Home’s process requires a careful assessment of a senior’s home and the implementation of universal design best practices. Universal design refers to the architectural design practices meant to make homes and buildings inherently more accessible for aging and disabled people. “Aging at Home can assists seniors by allowing them to remain in their homes safely and comfortably through making home modifications and improvements that increase accessibility, safety and their day to day comfort,” says their leadership team.

When the Aging at Home leadership team was asked about their decision to enter this market space, they responded by saying that, “it is the fastest growing housing market segment in the US economy.”  According to the AARP, the largest portion of the US population — baby boomers –overwhelmingly prefer to live in their own homes compared to other options available. There are approximately 35 million Americans over the age of 65. “According to the US Census Bureau, by 2030 there will be approximately 71.5 million Americans over the age of 65. That represents 20% of the entire U.S. population,” added the leadership team.

Aging at Home will serve these new customers in an emerging market industry know as Aging in Place. According to the National Home Builders Association’s (NHBA) Aging in Place Remodeling group, 85% of aging seniors want to continue living in their current home rather than the alternatives. This will continue to increase demand for remodeling contractors that have been trained and educated about the needs of the aging senior population. NHBA provides a training certification process for remodeling contractors to serve this special market segment. Their program is called CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specials). The program teaches the technical, business management, and customer service skills essential to competing in the fastest growing segment of the residential remodeling industry: home modifications for the aging-in-place.

“We are proud to say that Aging at Home is a certified CAPS contractor and a member of NHBA and the Greater Houston Builders Association,” the leadership team goes on to say. “Aging at Home was also attracted to this market segment to serve the aging population. As a professional remodeling contractor, we want to produce a quality product at a reasonable price for our clients. It’s even more rewarding to construct updates and improvements that will create a safer environment and increase our clients overall well-being.” Marwood Construction (www.marwoodconstruction.com) will be launching Aging at Home marketing efforts through the 2016 calendar year.
