(Newswire.net — September 1, 2016) — MEXICO CITY — After a surprise meeting in Mexico, the Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and the president of Mexico Peña Nieto agreed to disagree, USA Today reported.

Although he doesn’t have the power to negotiate in the name of Americans who haven’t yet elected him president of the United States, Donald Trump was invited by Mexico President to discuss the trade and illegal immigration problems of the two countries.

Trump and Mexico’s president told journalist they had a friendly talk but they didn’t agree on main topics. At the press conference, Trump thanked his host for the invitation and said he considers Peña Nieto a friend.

Questioned about the building and financing of the anti immigrants wall on the US-Mexico border, Trump told reporters the two didn’t discuss” the subject.  “That will be for a later date”, Trump said.

The Mexico President, however, told the media that he told Trump at the beginning of the meeting that Mexico wouldn’t finance such an idea.

“At the beginning of the conversation with Donald Trump, I made clear that Mexico would not pay for the wall,” President Peña Nieto said.

Building a wall along the US-Mexico border to prevent illegal immigrants crossing over from Mexico is Trump’s platform for solving the illegal immigration problem in U.S. which Trump claims cost Americans $113 billion every year.

Trump’s idea to solve the illegal immigration problem by mass deporting and building the wall invoked great unrest and protests among the immigrants in U.S. The opposition in Mexico massively protested against Trump’s visit, attacking Peña Nieto for inviting him.

Trump’s idea, on the other side, has many supporters in the U.S. especially among those who believe the report that illegal immigrants cost US tax payers billions annually. The report was published 2013 by Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). However, the study was anything but fair.

The FAIR study calculated only the cost but flagrantly disregarded the benefit of illegal immigrants in the U.S. economy. The truth is that the money they earn they use to purchase goods and services in U.S. and that generates tax revenue that is also measurable in billions, Alex Nowrasteh of the Cato Institute finds.

Trump, whose building company hired illegal immigrants as construction workers to build the Trump Tower, has described Mexican-Americans as “beyond reproach” and “spectacular, hardworking people.” However, he now describes some Mexican immigrants as criminals and rapists.
