(Newswire.net — December 14, 2016) Orlando, FL — More and more people are turning to the use of natural alternatives to potentially increase their immunity against a range of diseases. One of these natural alternatives is green tea, which has been widely studied by many of the world’s most renowned scientists and researchers.

A study reveals that green tea may potentially inhibit yeast growth. Green tea has long been popularized by the possible therapeutic properties it contains, including antioxidants. Many people consume it on a daily basis to take advantage of the health benefits it is believed to offer.

In 2004, the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy published a study that found the catechins in green tea have successfully inhibited the growth of yeast by up to 90%.

In 2009, the Canadian Journal of Microbiology published a research study that suggests the polyphenols as well as the antimicrobial properties of green tea may aid in the prevention and breakdown of yeast formations. The research study was conducted by Nikki A. Evensen and Phyllis C. Braun.

In the same study, the researchers treated the yeast cultures with the strongest polyphenol in green tea called EGCg. It was found that these antimicrobial properties have been able to reduce the formation of biofilms by up to 75%. It was also found that the yeast cultures, which are typically resistant to antimicrobials, were reduced by 80%.

According to Dr. Michael Murray, it his statements on his website, the findings of the study were significant. It has demonstrated the potential of green tea in being an important element to possibly aid health conditions linked with biofilm formation, such as yeast infections.

Consumption of green tea has been generally considered to be safe for adults, especially when done in moderate amounts. Green tea may be consumed in various ways, such as supplementation

For yeast control, it is best to follow the directions on the product labels when using green tea extracts. When consuming green tea as beverage, three cups a day will typically suffice.

Green tea may also be externally used to help fight yeast infections that manifest as skin rashes. There are green tea essential oils with antifungal properties that target the yeast rashes on the skin. They are believed to help reduce redness as well as fight the infection.

Individuals who want to take green tea extracts may do so through supplementation. One of the benefits of using supplements is that there are products that do not just contain green tea extracts but also other potentially beneficial ingredients.

Resveratrol, for instance, is believed to be a powerful antioxidant. There are popular resveratrol supplements that do not only contain extracts of green tea, but also of grape seed, red wine, and acai fruit.
