(Newswire.net — December 12, 2016) Woodbridge, Virginia — Protesters celebrated a major victory in their push to reroute the Dakota Access oil pipeline away from a tribal water source, but pledged to remain camped on federal land in North Dakota, despite the government deadline to leave, to ensure the government would not renege on their promise.

According to eye witness accounts, the police used concussion grenades, rubber bullets and water pressure to remove protesters, injuring many. Among the injured was Sophia Wilansky, a 21 year old woman from New York who was handing out bottled water to fellow protesters. Sophia’s arm was severely injured and she will require many surgeries to hopefully keep her arm. To read more about her story and get involved, click here.

Karen, a woman who wanted to get involved and help those who were hurt during these attacks took it upon herself to send first aid kits to the Standing Rock Medic and Healer Council.

“These kits were sent to help the protesters of the North Dakota Access Pipeline who suffered injury due to police attack wth rubber bullets, water pressure in freezing temperatures and some kind of grenades. People around America are not always aware of it, it may be because it gets no coverage by the media. It’s all over Facebook. I did not go to North Dakota. I protested in my own home town.” Karen, one of Surviveware’s customers. See more of her story here
