(Newswire.net — February 2, 2017) Orlando, FL — Over the years, there has been an increasing mortality rate associated with heart conditions. There are many ways to take better care of heart health, and one is to utilize certain spices such as turmeric.

Turmeric may offer potential life-saving effects against heart failure. There are a few reasons why heart failure takes place, and one is when the heart becomes incapacitated to pump enough blood needed by the body.

There are those who simply are not getting enough blood in the heart, and there are also those who have hearts that lack the amount of force needed to pump blood.

Hypertrophy, which is an enlargement of the heart muscle, can result from the inability of the heart to pump blood as it should. Individuals who suffer from this condition usually experience symptoms such as swelling and fatigue.

When the heart’s inability to pump blood properly worsens, it can significantly impact its health. It could even trigger the development of certain conditions such as coronary heart disease.

In 2008, the Journal of Clinical Investigation published two reports that showed evidence demonstrating curcumin’s possible protective effects against heart failure.

Curcumin is a phytochemical found in turmeric, and it is believed to be one of the major sources of the spice’s potentially beneficial effects. Some of the substances in curcumin are believed to contain antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antiviral, and antibiotic properties.

Koji Hasegawa and his colleagues conducted the first study at Kyoto Medical Center in Japan. It was found that the rats with hypertensive heart disease that were dosed with curcumin for 7 weeks experienced a decrease in the thickness of their left ventricular wall. Systolic funtion was also maintained.

In the second experiment, it was found that curcumin may be able to improve systolic function as well as reduce the thickness and diameter of non-infarcted myocardium. The subjects were rats with surgically-induced myocardial infarction.

It is estimated that 5.7 million Americans suffer from heart failure, which affects both children and adults in the United States. There has not been a cure yet for the condition, but utilizing certain spices is often practiced by individuals who want to improve their heart health.

Turmeric has long been believed to offer a range of health benefits. This spice can be added to a wide variety of delectable dishes and beverages. It may also be consumed through curcumin supplementation.

Curcumin supplements with piperine are extremely popular nowadays. Piperine is a black pepper extract that works by potentially increasing the delivery of curcumin’s unique properties inside the body, and thus, it may possibly make curcumin supplements more therapeutic.
