(Newswire.net — April 20, 2017) Orlando, FL — Pain can affect any part of the body, and it actually depends on what causes it. Neck pain can be caused by several factors, and there are certain types of people who are more prone to it.

Research study reveals that neck pain affects women more than men. In a study, adult patients were treated at Loyola Medicine’s Pain Management Center. It was found that women are more likely to report neck pain by 1.38 times due to cervical degenerative disc disease.

Meda Raghavendra, M.D. and Joseph Holtman, M.D., PhD, of Loyola University Medical Center and Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, conducted the study. The study, on the other hand, was presented at the American Academy of Pain Medicine’s annual meeting in Palm Springs, Ca.

There has been an increasing body of research on the level of pain differences in men and women. In previous studies, it was revealed that females are more likely to get a treatment from pain clinics.

The women visited the clinics for chronic pain and certain painful conditions, such as fibromyalgia and headaches. There have been a variety of proposed explanations, such as hormonal differences.

Cervical degenerative disc disease commonly causes neck pain, and it causes symptoms such as inflexible neck, tingling, numbness, and burning. Pain is believed to occur more when one is moving the head or is upright.

In the Loyola study, there were 3,337 individuals who were treated at the Pain Management Center of Loyola. It is important to note that sixty-one percent of the participants were female.

Pain has always been a problem for many people. It doesn’t just hinder people from functioning normally on a daily basis but also reduces their overall quality of life.

For individuals who suffer from arthritis, pain is something that they have to live with almost every day. There are pain medications available today, such as the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

While many consumers find these medications extremely useful, they cause side effects. Thus, they are encouraged to use safer alternatives such as glucosamine.

This natural remedy works by repairing the damage in the joint cartilage. When damaged, the cartilage is unable to protect the bones from friction, which then causes pain, stiffness, and other symptoms.

Glucosamine is believed to not just repair cartilage damage but also improve overall joint health. Thus, it could be potentially helpful to individuals who suffer from the consequences of cartilage health deterioration (http://amazon.com/Glucosamine-Sulfate-Supplement-2000mg-serving/dp/B0126ZF0B0).
