International Association of Undercover Officers Tactics & Resiliency Seminar

(Newswire.net — June 27, 2017) — On August 7th–11th, 2017, the International Association of Undercover Officers (Association) is holding a “new and advanced” five-day training program for law enforcement officers who supervise and participate in covert undercover investigations.  This course is specifically designed to provide officers, both managers and in the field, with a comprehensive knowledge of undercover techniques and methods they can employ to safely plan and manage covert investigations. This program changes every year in the Association’s effort to provide the latest information about covert operations. All tactics presenters have extensive covert operations experience.

The Association, in partnership with Safe Call Now, The Institute for Responder Wellness and the Foundation for Responder Wellness, has added topics which include; undercover fatigue, stress, burnout and how to survive the profession.

The impressive speaker lineup includes:

JAY DOBYNS – A retired Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) Special Agent who worked for the ATF for over 20 years.  Jay worked undercover and infiltrated numerous crime organizations.  He wrote two books, No Angel – My Harrowing Undercover Journey to the Inner-Circle of the Hells Angels, and Catching Hell, which is being published this July. Jay is a tremendous presenter and always “tells it like it is.”

GAYLAND HAMMACK – A retired Sergeant with 27 years experience working for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). 17 of those years were Special Operations and the supervision of Technical Surveillance units. Since 1987, Gayland was a certified P.O.S.T. instructor and training coordinator for the LVMPD. Since 1992, he has been a Master-Core instructor for the State of Nevada. Gayland supervised Task Forces involving D.E.A., F.B.I., B.A.T.F., I.N.S., I.R.S. and U.S. Customs. He conducted investigations in a number of States, Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe. Gayland is a renowned expert of Covert Operations, Electronic Surveillance and Money Laundering. He has trained law enforcement agencies throughout the United States, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary.

CHARLIE FULLER A retired ATF Special Agent with 27 years of law enforcement experience and expertise in undercover, electronic surveillance, and training. For six years, Charlie was a Program Manager for the ATF National Academy and responsible for undercover/field operations training. He is the author of The Art of Undercover: Techniques and Survival, the complete “how to work undercover” book. Charlie currently presents undercover, electronic surveillance and physical surveillance training programs nationwide.

CHRIS NISSEN – A Special Agent with a Midwest state narcotics enforcement agency. Chris works as a special undercover operator and advisor for local, regional and federal agencies in short term cases involving narcotics, firearms, organized crime, and theft rings. As a case agent for narcotics investigations, Chris has been involved in local, regional and international cases and has been directly involved in the investigation and prosecution of over 100 Federal defendants. Chris has been involved in narcotics investigations for the majority of his 18 year law enforcement career. Chris was a Founding Board Member, a Regional Director and State Vice-President for the Nevada State Narcotics Officers Association. He was an instructor for the Advanced Undercover School at the Midwest Counterdrug Training Center.

ROBERT ALMONTE – A retired Deputy Chief for the El Paso Police Department and a former U. S. Marshal. Robert has 32 years of law enforcement experience with expertise in narcotics investigations and undercover work. He served as the United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas from 2010 to 2016. He served 25 years with the El Paso, TX Police Department where he spent the majority of his career in narcotics investigations. Robert has provided training to thousands of law enforcement officers throughout the U.S. and abroad. He has spent years conducting extensive research on the Mexican drug trade and how they pay for protection from law enforcement.

PETER BOYCE – Peter is a private practice attorney in Atlanta, GA. Peter counsels and defends police officers and departments when threatened with suit or sued. As an internationally recognized speaker and instructor in many aspects of police civil liability and the use of force, Peter has made numerous presentations to local, state, federal and foreign law enforcement officers throughout the world.

JIM ORRA retired law enforcement Sergeant with extensive investigative experience (Narcotics & Gangs). Jim is an investigator and anti-piracy trainer and advisor for the Recording Industry Association of America and many major owners of intellectual properties. Jim has trained over 8,000 local, state and federal officers and has conducted and assisted with many piracy investigations. He is a court recognized expert and has a 99.99% conviction rate.

Officers who participate in covert operations are not born with the talents needed to perform effectively in undercover situations. These talents are developed from experience, hard work and training.
