(Newswire.net — August 22, 2017) Las Vegas, NV — One of the things that plague arthritis is the pain it causes. There are many other symptoms and discomforts that sufferers may be subjected to on a daily basis. However, it seems there may be even more disadvantages related to this condition.

Research reveals that arthritis sufferers may be more susceptible to poor health than non-sufferers. This painful and debilitating condition affects many people from around the world today, especially in the United States.

There are many sufferers who become incapable of doing their chores and daily routines, or even working due to the condition. The pain caused by the condition often subjects sufferers to immobility.

When sufferers experience pain and other discomforts on a daily basis, it can be quite easy for them to live a sedentary lifestyle, which increases their risk of serious health consequences. This condition doesn’t just affect sufferers physically, but also mentally.

Individuals with arthritis often suffer from mood swings and other negative emotions. These mental issues are often linked with their inability to do physical activities. For many arthritis sufferers, doing physical activities may not happen painlessly.

Arthritis Care and Research published a study, which was based on the study on the data from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. The research team aimed at comparing the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of individuals with arthritis versus those who do not have the condition.

The study researcher Sylvia Furner, MPH, PhD, from the School of Public Health at the University of Illinois at Chicago, revealed that all HRQOL measures were two to three times worse in arthritis sufferers than the participants without the condition.

Individuals with arthritis reported that they spent more days suffering from physical and mental health problems. They also suffered from physical limitations. There was, however, good news in the findings of the study. It was found that arthritis sufferers who were physically active had a better quality of life than those with the condition but who had a sedentary lifestyle.

There hasn’t been any cure discovered for the condition yet. However, there are many pain management options to choose from to help alleviate pain and improve the mobility of sufferers.

One is the use of pain medications, which may cause side effects. Thus, many arthritis sufferers are turning to the use of natural alternatives such as curcumin. This phytochemical can be found in the ancient spice called turmeric.

Curcumin contains a variety of potentially beneficial ingredient that are believed to offer anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, antiseptic, antibiotic, antiviral, and anti-carcinogenic properties.
