Second Annual Dealer’s Cup Scores Big for Charity

(Newswire.net — August 16, 2017) Vancouver, BC — Corporate golf tournaments are all in good fun. But participants in Silver Chef Canada’s second annual Dealer’s Cup brought more than their A-game —they brought an overwhelming cascade of support, good will, and generosity.

On Friday, August 11, 65 representatives from local companies like Vortex Restaurant Equipment, Body Active, Impact Recruitment, Foodpak, and Mountain Coffee teed off at the University Golf Club in support of Opportunity International, a not-for-profit organization that provides business and finance programs to over 5 million people across 20 developing countries. Between registration from these participants, sponsorship from companies like Espressotec and Caffé D’arte Coffee Roasters, proceeds from 50/50 draws as well as a Mulligans element and a silent auction, and two silent donors who matched the money collected, the event raised $11,418 for third-world entrepreneurs working their way out of poverty.

“It was a great day!” says Ellise Keller, tournament coordinator at Silver Chef Canada. “We were able to bring a lot of our industry partners together to showcase not only our business but also the work we do with our partners at Opportunity International. Having just reached the mark of one million people served, this was a fabulous way to set us up for the next million.”

The team of four from Russell Hendrix and GroupeX Solutions took First Place (thanks, no doubt, to the delicious and refreshing cold brew coffees served at Hole #1 by Espressotec), and several other lucky winners took home silent auction prizes, including a Nespresso coffee machine, a Broil King barbecue, a GoPro camera, a travel set (suitcase with laptop carrier and a neck pillow), a TaylorMade driver, and a TaylorMade golf bag. Merriment and celebrations continued after the tournament with drinks and a sumptuous buffet dinner — an all-around success.

“It was incredible to see so many people from such a wide range of businesses come together for a cause,” reflects Alison Ensworth, Marketing and Communications Coordinator at Espressotec. “Talk on the green wasn’t even about networking or business — it was just humans supporting humans.”
