(Newswire.net — October 24, 2017) Santa Monica, California — Dr. Michael Sinel, MD recognizes that there is more to being a chronic back pain relief and treatment expert than just giving specialized care and treatment in exchange for professional fee. The Assistant Clinical Professor at the UCLA School of Medicine is giving back to the community by way of an organized chess event for teens without a home or family to care for them.
Slated for October 25th, 2017 in his home in Venice, California, the chess event for homeless youth is Dr. Sinel’s initiative to contribute to the community. He is hosting the one-day chess session in partnership with Safe Place for Youth, an organization dedicated to addressing the fundamental needs of homeless youth in the area. With aid, assistance and donation from Board Members, donors, volunteers and partner organizations, SPY has remained steadfast in providing food, clothing and socks as primary forms of assistance to the recipients.
It was in 2011 that SPY was born out of a burning passion to offer a supportive and healthy environment for homeless teens. Through the unswerving dedication of volunteers and under the leadership of Founder and Executive Director Alison Hurst, SPY has assisted thousands through its services that have expanded into “street outreach, drop-in services, case management, health and wellness, and education and employment programs” through the years.
Dr. Sinel has spent 20 years of providing dedicated medical and health help central to treating spinal and neck problems. Being in a service-oriented profession as a back pain physician and assistant professor, he understands the importance of connecting to those who need help with their condition. In the same way, he firmly believes in the mission of Safe Place for Youth to provide immediate and lasting solutions to teen homelessness.
Dr. Sinel agrees that there is an urgent need to address the issue hounding several young people particularly in Los Angeles and other parts of California. By demonstrating his willingness to take part in the SPY advocacy, he is confident that there is a way to address and eventually end homelessness among the youth.
