(Newswire.net — January 31, 2018) Bend, OR — The Center Orthopedic & Neurosurgical Care & Research is pleased to announce two new additions to the orthopedic sports medicine team; Daniel Ells, PA-C and Nathaniel Schwab, PA-C. Each brings valuable skills and experience to the sports medicine team and will help keep pace with the company’s continued regional growth.

Daniel Ells, PA-C began his career as an EMT, where he treated and transported patients on emergency 911 calls in Connecticut. He spent five-years as a research assistant at Yale University, while attending Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, to receive his bachelor of science in health sciences. He went on to Pacific University in Hillsboro where he earned his masters of science degree in physician assistant studies.

Dan did his rotations in Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington and Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. He has done volunteer medical work at Southwest Community Health Center in Hillsboro, Oregon and with Hand Help in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. He enjoys the outdoors, hockey, coaching youth lacrosse, fishing, and skiing.

Nathaniel Schwab, PA-C is a board certified physician assistant that is dedicated to helping his patients get back to what they love doing. He began his career as a certified athletic trainer working as a preceptor at Whitworth University where he supervised and educated athletic training students. He went on to work in a physical therapy clinic before working as a surgical assistant for an orthopedic clinic in Lewiston, Idaho. There he found his passion and enrolled in physician assistant school so he could continue working in the field of orthopedics at a higher level of care.

Nate has done volunteer medical work at the Homeless Men’s Shelter Foot Health Clinic, Loaves and Fishes Homeless Shelter, and also spent one week in Nicaragua with Volunteers in Medical Missions. He enjoys traveling with his wife and dog, hiking, snowboarding, basketball, golf, and tennis.

“The knowledge and expertise Dan and Nate bring to our medical team will be of great value to our patients,” said Mike Gonsalves, CEO at The Center. “This allows us to offer additional appointment times and continue to provide expert care for our orthopedic patients so they can get back to what they love.”
