(Newswire.net — August 2, 2016) — Battery life is highly important for all smartphone users. When it comes to Android, many do not even know that some of the apps are going to drain a lot of time. There are so many apps out there that will put a huge demand on the battery life, much more than you imagine. According to Android News, let’s take a look at some of the apps that will consume much more than what many think.
The “king” of battery life drains on Android is Snapchat. It will drain a lot and although this is not a huge surprise because of what the app does, the second app that drains battery the most is Google Maps. This is a huge surprise. Users are actually now recommended to seriously consider using the special Offline Area Feature. This means that maps are going to be downloaded to the Android device. Battery life will not be so drained and even data usage will go down.
Apps that consume a lot of battery life and that people do not really expect them to be so include Google Maps, Facebook Messenger, ChatOn, Instagram, Weather Channel app and Blackberry Messenger. We also have LINE and Spotify that can drain much more than expected. However, those 3 apps that tend to have the highest impact on the resources of the device are YouTube, Snapchat and the above mentioned Google Maps.
There are many differences that appear when comparing the top consuming apps with those that were problematic last year. Netflix is the best possible example. It did improve the usage a lot and the performance drain is no longer as high as it used to be when the app was launched.
Obviously, there are also some important apps that were not analyzed by professionals till now and that may be pretty high on the list. Pokemon Go is definitely the best example of that. It was only recently launched but reports already come in saying that this is an app that will consume a lot of battery. That is because when compared with streaming or social apps like Spotify and Facebook, a game also consumes more battery in a natural way. Since Pokemon Go includes both a social aspect and is a strong game that uses many of the phone’s tools, the battery drain will be substantial. According to initial tests, you can end up with the iPhone 6S Plus’ battery being put to zero in a little over 2 hours. The Samsung Galaxy S6 only lasted 2 hours and forty minutes.
It is worth mentioning that research highlights that an average Android user is going to install around 30 apps on the phone. This means that it is possible to end up with many apps that would potentially drain battery life without the user knowing it. As an Android user, you have to be sure that you will keep your eyes on battery drain. Identify the apps that you do not care much about and remove them if you want to have a longer battery life.
