(Newswire.net — January 28, 2015) — Though almost every media in the world covers the Ukraine crisis, at least from time to time, very few look at different perspectives than the one we can see in western media. Therefore, it is not surprising when atrocities of Kiev’s supported by NATO army never reach outside the new media imposed ‘iron curtain’.
The latest news behind that ‘curtain’ is that the Ukrainian military employed so called “anti-retreat troops’ or ‘the barrier troops’ with one mission only, to fire at their fellow soldiers in order to prevent their retreat during a night battle in the country’s southeast.
Donetsk News Agency quoted the Defense Ministry of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Eduard Basurin, who said that Ukrainian troops are demoralized, which is “proven by an unprecedented incident that occurred last night.”
Allegedly, an injured Ukrainian soldier who surrendered to the Donetsk militias told them, “anti-retreat units from territorial defense battalions were used against the Ukrainian troops.” Though Ukrainian authorities refused to comment, the demoralized soldiers’ part appears to be the truth.
According to the DPR representative, 70 Ukrainian troops have surrendered to the rebels since January 9, with 11 of them capitulating in the past 24 hours. UN estimates the death toll in the Ukraine conflict has exceeded 5,000 people and 10,000 have been injured.
It is not known how many soldiers of fortune are fighting in this conflict, as both sides deny any foreign troops. It is a proven fact however, that some Russian troops are taking a leave of absence from the Red army to fight for DPR, as it is a common issue that some Kiev’s troops don’t speak Russian (Ukrainian) at all, they are actually native English speakers.
For ordinary people, who mind their own business, the Ukraine crisis is some far away conflict where the Ukraine government fights for its territory occupied by Russians. They don’t question the historical or demographic aspect, or draw parallels between Kosovo which Unilaterally declared its independence supported by NATO alliance. They have a media shaped opinion by calling it a crisis, instead of what it is – a civil war. From the global economy perspective, it is actually World War III.
According to economy experts, the Ukraine war is the most influential variable that affects the global economies. Though it is not clearly visible from all the aspects, the obvious one is the defending of the petro-dollar.
By some geo-political and global economy experts, Ukraine crisis was provoked to draw Moscow into a conflict so US, followed by EU, could impose sanctions, which successfully devaluate the Russian ruble. Prior to the war in Ukraine, Russia declared leaving the petro-dollar and agreed with China to trade oil in yen and ruble. Now, because the ruble is unstable and at its lowest, trading in Russian currency is simply not economical.
On the other hand, economically strong Russia with its Euro-Asia perspective is a serious threat to the European Union, economic experts say. They agree it is of greatest significance to win the Ukraine war but it is extremely expensive.
US billionaire financier George Soros has urged the West to provide at least $15 billion to Ukraine to help the country survive. In early January, Soros told the Financial Times that the stabilization of Ukraine’s economy would urgently demand some $50 billion. Soros, however, said that it is EU who should worry the most.
“Assisting Ukraine should also be considered a defense expenditure by the European Union countries,” Soros wrote. The latest political development in Greece with Eurosceptic party forming the government and the financial development in Switzerland when the Swiss currency detached from the Euro, only confirms bad predictions for EU.
Meanwhile, the people in Ukraine are dying, the country is falling apart, and its troops are forced to fight the battles they can not win.
