(Newswire.net — January 13, 2016) — Leonardo DiCaprio, who plays the role of the hunter whose friends leave him to die after he was injured by a bear, won the Golden Globe for Best Actor, and Alehandar Injaritu won for Best Director in the film “The Revenant”.
This is Leonardo’s third Golden Globe. Previously, he won a Golden Globe Award for “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “The Aviator,” but has not yet received an Oscar although he has been nominated four times.
Ridley Scott’s film “The Martain”, won the Golden Globe Award for Best Film in the Comedy/Musical category, while Matt Damon won Best Actor for his role in “The Martain” as the astronaut who is accidentally left on Mars. Damon first recieved a Golden Globe 18 years ago for Best Screenplay for the movie “Good Will Hunting.”
The award for Best Actress in the Drama category went to Brie Larson for the film “Room”. Jennifer Lawrence, after winning Golden Globe Awards for the movies “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Hustle”, received her third Golden Globe for Best Actress in the Drama category for the movie “Joy”.
One of the favorites, “The Spotlight” did not receive any awards. As well as the film “Carol”, which received very good reviews.
The movie “Stieve Jobs” won two Golden Globes for Best Screenplay (Aaron Sorkin) and Best Supporting Actress (Kate Winslet).
Sylvester Stallone received the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for his big comeback as Rocky Balboa in “Creed”, 29 years after his first film about the famous boxer. “I want to thank my imaginary friend Rocky Balboa for being the best friend I ever had,” said Stallone, receiving the award.
As expected, the film “Inside Out” was declared the Best Animated Film, while the Hungarian film “Son of Saul” won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film.
Italian composer Ennio Morricone received his third Golden Globe for the movie “The Hateful Eight” by Quentin Tarantino, and the American singer Sam Smith won the award for the Best Original Song “Writing’s on the Wall” from the James Bond film “Spectre”.
When it comes to television, “Mr. Robot” won the award for the Best Drama Series and “Mozzart in the Jungle” won for the Best Comedy category.
Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Taraji Henson (Empire) won the Golden Globe Award for the Best Role in a Drama Series.
The American pop singer Lady Gaga won Best Actress in a TV Movie or Miniseries for her role in the final season of “American Horror Story: Hotel”.
The Golden Globes for film and television has been held since 1944, by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, at the annual gala dinner. NBC has the exclusive broadcast rights for the awarding ceremony, Golden Globes is the third audience award show, immediately after the Academy Awards and Grammy Awards.
