(Newswire.net — November 22, 2016) —On January 20th 2017, Donald Trump will be inaugurated as the 45th US president. After that he will move to the White House in Washington, D.C., but his wife and son, Melania and Barron Trump, will stay in New York.
10-year-old Barron attends the Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School, whose famous alumni includes Sarah Michelle Gellar and Herman Melville, reports The Daily Mail.
Melania will travel to DC when necessary, and Trump himself is reportedly considering spending as much time in New York as he can.
Jim Reese, a former Delta Force member, told the New York Post that Trump Tower is going to become the White House of New York.
According to the New York Post, Melania, a 46-year-old former model, has decided to stay with Barron and put the interests of her only son first as the election campaign has been difficult for him, and she does not want to hassle him with leaving school early to move to Washington.
Ivana Trump, Donald’s ex-wife, said that Trump’s three-story penthouse apartment, decked in 24-karat gold and marble, is nicer than the White House.
Allegedly, New York residents are angered because of the news that Melania and Barron would be staying in New York. They are afraid that the security measures, ranging from armed officers, road closures and pedestrian bag checks, would exacerbate traffic in the city.
In the days following the election the New York Police Department has been working with the Secret Service on security measures around the Trump building on Fifth Avenue due to protesters.
Trump transition spokesman Jason Miller told reporters during a press call that no formal statement has been released yet with regards to the Trump family and their transition plans to the White House in Washington, D.C.
Spokesman Miller added that a more formal statement will be coming in the future.
