(Newswire.net— June 18, 2020) —  Actors Keanu Reeves and Jonathan Frakes are among the many celebrities who offer fans the opportunity to talk via the Zoom app during quarantine, the BBC reports.

Reeves is offering a 15-minute conversation at an auction to raise money for a charity for children with cancer. At the time of writing, the amount of money someone has bid is $ 75,100.

On the other hand, on another platform for correspondence with famous people Cameo, for $ 200 you can buy a ten-minute conversation with the actor from Star Trek Jonathan Frakes and skater Tony Hawk.

The platform also offers birthday wishes from Snoop Dogg, Gilbert Gottfried, or even Stormy Daniels.

Cameo confirms that there are “a lot of people interested” in their online service called Cameo Live. More than thirty celebrities have joined the platform – of which only four are women – since the application started working on Sunday.

This startup company, created in 2017, also offered short recorded personal messages of celebrities, including reality stars and athletes, and each of them charges differently for that service.

“Cameo Live is very similar to a backstage pass at a concert or a meet-and-greet at an autographic signing,” spokesman Brandon Kazimer told BBC News.

“This is just the newest iteration of fan-talent access.”

Mr. Kazimer said that the services are a mixture of fans buying a video call for them or for friends and that some companies pay for such services for various events that they host.

According to Steven Galanis, the stars who offer recorded messages managed to bring down prices by an average of 27 percent during the quarantine.

Last year, the platform grew its talent roster from 5,000 people to more than 20,000 and facilitated the creation of more than 400,000 videos (up from 100,000 in 2018), which included pep talks, internet parody videos, and Sugar Ray front man Mark McGrath doing someone’s dirty work in a breakup.
