(Newswire.net — May 9, 2022) — As the Premier League season slowly draws to a close, it’s a good time to start assessing some of the campaign’s standout performers. In an age when every club is desperate to find the best young talent in the game, it’s no surprise that the form of players under the age of 21 is especially interesting.
Here, we’ve had a look at five players who have really come to the fore this season and helped establish their teams in the Premier League betting odds, demonstrating their respective talents.
Gabriel Martinelli
The quality of Gabriel Martinelli has been well known for some time, but it feels like he has really matured as a player this season — and Arsenal has needed him to. The departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the January transfer window meant that the Gunners’ forwards needed to step up to the mark, and Martinelli has been hugely impressive.
If not for a couple of injury setbacks, the Brazilian could easily have notched more than the five Premier League goals he has registered, but it’s his talent for beating opposition defenders in wide areas that makes him such an exciting prospect for the future.
Tino Livramento
Perhaps not the most effervescent talent on this list, Tino Livramento’s bullish qualities have made him one of Southampton’s success stories for the 2021-22 campaign. The 20-year-old arrived from Chelsea last summer with plenty of potentials and has established himself as a regular in the Saints’ starting 11.
Unfortunately, Livramento recently suffered a serious knee injury that looks set to rule him out for some time, and you can only hope that he makes a speedy recovery.
Harvey Elliott
Speaking of young players who have overcome serious injuries, Harvey Elliott’s breakthrough season at Liverpool has been a story of midfield wizardry and overcoming adversity. The 19-year-old made a dream start to the campaign, establishing himself as a regular starter in Jürgen Klopp’s side before a horror ankle dislocation suffered against Leeds United kept him out for nearly five months.
Elliott managed to recover faster than anticipated, and despite being unable to cement his place in the team once again, it’s been a season he can take pride in.
Anthony Elanga
In a campaign of misery for Manchester United, the emergence of Anthony Elanga has been one of the few positives. With some positive performances under Ralf Rangnick, Elanga has shown his true potential, and it will be interesting to see how he develops when Erik ten Hag takes the reins in the summer.
Elanga’s form earned him his first caps for the Swedish national team, and he’ll be hoping to kick on from here and help United become more favored in the Premier League predictions this weekend.
Michael Olise
One of Patrick Vieira’s briefs, when he took over at Crystal Palace, was to freshen the squad with younger players, and the arrival of Michael Olise has been a major part of that. Signing from Reading last summer, Olise has since proven that he is one of the most exciting prospects in the Premier League.
It’s no surprise that bigger clubs are beginning to circle around the 20-year-old, with Arsenal reportedly interesting in bringing Olise to the Emirates Stadium
