(Newswire.net — July 31, 2020) — So, you’ve got a “junk” car that you don’t need anymore, but you’re not sure what to do. You know the vehicle can’t be entirely worthless though so you refuse to just give it away, even though that would be the most convenient. Don’t worry though, we can help you figure out the best way to get rid of your junk car.

Know Everything You Can About it

What is junk in the car? Does it have a blown head gasket? Was it in an accident? If so, what parts were the most affected? The best thing you can do to start with is really assess the vehicle and figure out how to answer all of the questions that would-be-buyers will definitely be asking.

You don’t have to be a mechanic though and you don’t need to know everything about vehicles, but if you take an hour one day to google its issues and find out what may be causing that, you’ll really help the potential buyer evaluate what he or she’d need to do to fix it or whether it’s a Parts Car.

Move the Vehicle into a Spot that could be Towed Away from Easily

Any company or person who comes to buy the vehicle will naturally assess its location. Don’t have the vehicle in an area that will make it a pain to get out. Put it near the front of your driveway or perhaps street side if possible, in your area. If the buyer is only buying it to part it out and will only make a couple hundred dollars off of it, they might not want to spend an extra hour getting it out of your yard and on the way, because with that hour, they lose on their return on investment in terms of dollar per hour and with junk vehicles, sometimes it’s all about time management.

Contact People You Know First

Before you list your vehicle, contact any people you know who either might be interested in or might know people who might be interested in it. If you can avoid any extra hassle, do so. Why work harder than necessary just to make a small amount of money compared to what you probably paid for it? Also, by reaching out to people you know in your area, they may suggest to you businesses that will be interested in it that they’ve either worked with previously, or know people who have, that way you know you’re working with a good company and can get that peace of mind.

List the Vehicle Yourself Before Going Through a Company

It’s very unlikely you’ll get more for your junk vehicle from a business than a person. Because of this, you’d be doing yourself a great disservice to not first list the vehicle yourself. Utilize local resources such as Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, etc. There are so many great free options that not considering them would literally be costing you money.

Be diligent with weeding out scam replies though. You’ll probably be emailed a few times in broken English about how they can pay you even more than you’re asking. Don’t. If you know yourself though, and that you’re susceptible to that, maybe avoid these and ask a friend to list for you.

When All Else Fails, Call a Business

There are tons of auto-body repair shops that part out cars. There are tons of dealers that will fix and sell salvage title vehicles out there. If you can’t wait any longer, these will always be a quicker option, although you’ll get less. Start calling local companies. Time’s wasting.
