(Newswire.net — March 23, 2021) — As we anticipate the arrival of Ramadan in less than a month, and with Hari Raya Aidilfitri soon after, women out there are definitely busy looking for the latest trend and fashion for the Raya celebration. Some would buy their clothes online but others prefer to be a custom-made baju kurung by a professional tailor so they could play around with the material and design.

A custom-made baju kurung could be more expensive compared to the ready-to-wear options, but you have the freedom to showcase a unique and different style. Therefore, be mindful and follow these tips as your guidance.

1. UNDERSTAND YOUR BODY SHAPE

Choose a style that suits your body shape. Run a little research before you decide on the style as every style is not for all body shapes. This also applies to the material and patterns. Be mindful of the latest fashion trend and avoid being a fashion victim.

2. DO NOT CHANGE YOUR TAILOR

A very last-minute change to your tailor is a big NO. If you are already familiar with one tailor but your friend might suggest another and you want to try the handiwork of tailor B. It is not wrong to try but do not sacrifice your upcoming Raya clothes with a tailor that you do not know the result and quality of. You can give it a try, but maybe not for your Raya clothes.

3. YOUR CURRENT BAJU KURUNG COULD GIVE A BETTER MEASUREMENT

Be wary of the measurement when you are going for custom-made baju kurung. If you are not confident in the way the tailors measure your body, you can always bring your existing baju kurung for measurement standard. But make sure you bring clothes that can still be worn!

4. BE AT YOUR NORMAL STATE WHILE BEING MEASURED

Everyone gains and loses some weight along the way. Having said that, it is good to have a baju kurung with the right measurement. Therefore, you need to be in your normal state while being measured. If you hold your breath or bend your legs, the measurements taken will not be accurate.

5. BUY ENOUGH FABRIC

Once you have decided on the design that suits you and wish to style for Hari Raya, you need to make sure that you buy enough fabric. The standard design would need 4 meters, but some modern designs may need more than that. Get a bit of proper advice from your tailor as they may be able to tell you the amount of fabric or the pattern that would be enough for you.

6. SEND YOUR BAJU EARLY

This is the most important tip! Make sure you plan everything at least 4 months before Hari Raya. This will also give ample time for you and your tailor to design and more time to alter your baju kurung if something goes wrong. Don’t do it at the very last minute as we want everything to be perfect and celebrate the best Raya!
