(Newswire.net — October 1, 2021) Orlando, FL — More than 2.1 billion adults are estimated to be obese or overweight. It is worth noting that this condition increases the odds of chronic health issues, such as hypertension and diabetes.
Over the years, researchers have been carrying out studies to look into the various aspects of weight gain.
One was published in the Endocrine Society’s Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism.
The study findings have shown that eating dinner late at night may contribute to high blood sugar and weight gain.
According to the study’s corresponding author Jonathan C. Jun, M.D., this study sheds new light on how eating a late dinner worsens glucose tolerance and reduces the amount of fat burned. The effect of late eating varies greatly between people and depends on their usual bedtime.
Jun is from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, M.d.
“This shows that some people might be more vulnerable to late eating than others. If the metabolic effects we observed with a single meal keep occurring chronically, then late eating could lead to consequences such as diabetes or obesity,” he adds.
In this study, the investigators looked into 20 healthy volunteers consisting of 10 men and women. They were trying to see how the subjects metabolized dinner consumed at 10 p,m. compared to 6 p.m.
Further in this research, all volunteers actually went to bed at 11 p.m.
It has been found that there were higher blood sugar levels and the amount of consumed fat burned was lower in those with later dinner. This remained true even when the same meal was provided at two different times.
According to the study’s first author, Chenjuan Gu, M.D., Ph.D., of the Johns Hopkins University, on average, the peak glucose level after late dinner was about 18 percent higher, and the amount of fat burned overnight decreased by about 10 percent compared to eating an earlier dinner.
“The effects we have seen in healthy volunteers might be more pronounced in people with obesity or diabetes, who already have a compromised metabolism,” he added.
More studies are still being carried out to explore the various aspects of weight gain and obesity. However, it remains true that there are many techniques found to be particularly helpful in staying fit.
These include the use of energy-boosting remedies like L-Carnitine, which is an amino acid. Various studies carried out in the past have shown that this remedy helps in enhancing energy levels as well as boosting the body’s ability to burn fat.
To benefit from its use, it is wise to take formulas like Divine Bounty L-Carnitine. (www.amazon.com/dp/B06XF7K9MM).
